#132 Aix-en-Provence

Aix-en-Provence

Cours Mirabeau may be the most beautiful street in France.  Lined with plane trees, rococo fountains, and 17th/18th century buildings you can see why Paul Cezanne painted here.

I ordered a Nutella waffle and hot chocolate...the hot chocolate was made by scooping chocolate gelato into a cup and melting it with milk.  So good.

We were there on market day.  It was fascinating.

This hotdog shop made me laugh, but I didn't get a hot dog there.

Do you need a bag?  You can buy one at the market.

And off the beaten path...

Aix was gorgeous, but my experience in France confirmed the stereotype of how rude the French are.  I sat down in a cafe and when it became apparent that I don't speak French beyond, "good morning" the waiter asked me what I doing there if I didn't speak French.  "Not eating at your restaurant," was my response as I walked out.  Afterward I stopped at the tourist office and asked where I could find restrooms.  The guy just waved at somewhere outside their building and walked away.  So, clearly they are invested in promoting tourism at their tourist office.
