Gerbeaud
Opened it 1858 and in its current location since 1870, Gerbeaud coffeehouse survived Communism and exists today as an imperial throwback for artists, writers, politicians, journalists, and occasionally a bit of royalty.
Gerbeaud is famous as a chocoholic nirvana serving dozens of confections daily that are made in-house. I was definitely hard-pressed to choose just one.
There was gold-leaf on the cake, y'all. It was fancy!
It was so delicious. It was also so rich and so sweet that I didn't think I'd be able to finish it. I took one for the team and powered through.
Ok, ok ... I also had a house made lemonade, but that was mostly because of the delightful way the waiter said "raspberry".
